The outstanding design of BeSafe iZi Sleep from HTS BeSafe, designed by (the Dutch company) Indes, received recognition in the form of one of the world’s most prestigious design awards – the “red dot”. This seal of quality for good design is awarded annually in the international “red dot design” contest by a jury consisting of experts, and it goes exclusively to products with particularly sophisticated, innovative design.
BeSafe iZi Sleep is the first child’s seat in the 0+ category to combine safety and comfort for all users. The innovative feature of BeSafe iZi Sleep is its unique belt-tensioning system. This is part of the reason why the seat fits in cars with short seat belts. The unique belt tensioner ensures that the seat is held securely in place on the car seats. The child’s car seat has a lying position which can be used together with a travel system or in other situations outside the car. That way, BeSafe iZi Sleep provides maximum comfort. The advantage of the unique belt-tensioning system is that it does not go over the child. The belt routing guarantees safety if a collision should occur.
The product is evaluated by an international jury of recognised experts. They test and examine the product, and each is evaluated individually according to the degree of innovation and functionality incorporated, and its ergonomic qualities, durability, environment friendliness and user friendliness. This year companies form as many as 43 countries are represented, and a total of 2,548 products received the jury’s approval.
The prizes were awarded on 25 June 2007 at the Aalto Theatre in Essen in the presence of more than a thousand guests. In connection with the ceremony, BeSafe iZi Sleep was first shown along with other prize winning products in a special exhibition, and later it was placed in the “red dot design museum”, the largest collection of worldwide modern and contemporary design, for a period of one year.
